My mums boiler stopped working last night. It’s a heat only baxi 20 odd yrs old.
So, I get there & there’s no power. I turn socket on & off & put demand in for ch & hw, boiler has power, fan light on but no ignition, I turn on/off several times, nothing.
BG arrive an hour later, very good service, I wasn’t there. He fixes it & says the ball cock in the airing cupboard was stuck.
Why would that affect the boiler working?
It’s a traditional open vent y plan system
Any ideas?

Yeah, when I went the boiler had no power. I turned it on & off & still nothing. I put the timer on constant & it had power light & fan light, the other 2 lights, ignition & another one never lit up.
Maybe he did mean the port valve but again why would that affect boiler power & ignition?

So if that was stuck then there’s the problem? Must’ve been that. I’ll look tomorrow. Cheers

ahh now it makes sense except for, If he's figured out the valve is stuck, he will have figured, its gonna stick again, So he should have swapped it or made arrangements to do it when he had more time, not just move it and fuck off, typical GB ,, smiley-sad056 nay
