Called out to no hot water
Econ 7 cylinder
On both immersion’s the neutral cable had melted & snapped off.
Does this indicate undersized cable from spur to the immersion?
If so, what cable is needed? 2.5mm?
Cheers all

Assuming the heater is rated at 3KW OR BELOW that would allow it to be wired into the ring main. Not the best practice but common?
I usually fit these on the own radial circuit, with twenty amp double pole switch, indicated.
Now regardless of what type of circuit you have, you must use heat resistant flex with crimped ends if you don't want that same fault back.

The calculator says 1mm2 flex is OK, but for pulling around 13Amps I’d go 2-2.5mm2 flex. Given it’s warm ‘free air’ & chances of mechanical damage. 1mm2 is not great.

I did the job today
The new 2.5mm cable in comparison to what was there is much bigger so hopefully this’ll sort the wire melting issue.
Cheers all
