I know this is probably a really daft idea, but if you really were that skint and wanted to get through a few weeks could you get some acrylic sheet or fibreglass or something and melt it on where the crack is? Don't they patch up boats somehow ? Even if it was dooable I'm not suggesting for a second that a professional plumber would ever offer that but was just a thought that crossed my mind.
