I’ve got to do a bit of tiling
I don’t have a tile cutter. I was planning on using an angle grinder.
Any thoughts?
Cheers all

Cheers all An angle grinder is to aggressive rocky and will chip the edges off the tiles. I thought it might be. I’ll have a practice, the cut side with be on bath so also covered in silicone. That’s the only reason as I can hide it.

I did 40m2 last winter of 600 x600 10mm( yes 10mm !!) porcelain floor tiles, diamond blade cost me £35 from a tile shop ,went through like butter, with a nice smooth edge . And I got a £70 heavy duty rail cutter from screwfix . If using rail cutter make sure you on a solid floor , first few cuts were hit and miss👻 Then I realised ,that it was because I had it on a workbench and the slight bit of “give” or “flex “is not compatible, when cutting such monster tiles. When on a solid floor was a doddle. And cutting curves with grinder was easy peasy too. I had 2 quotes off tilers who were identical in price of £1100, so I was a £1000 quid richer , and lost a stone in weight 😎 very labour intensive graft, mixed with a cordless drill all my adhesive and grout and still hardest graft I’ve done .

This was done with diamond blade in cheap grinder. I know it’s easier to take pan out, but after buying a diamond blade wanted to see what it could do👀👀

Cheers, if I did tiling I’d happily buy one. There’s about 20 tiles to do.

I agree with glowbug.
A few years ago we paid some monkeys to do our bathroom. To be fair they were basically plasterers and tilers and in those areas they did a not bad job. 12mm thick marble tiles floor to ceiling in fair sized room and did the lot using an angle grinder ! Really though there are better and safer tools.
I've got to do a little tiling soon in my bathroom and funnily enough I was thinking of getting the cutter glowbug links to above. I've used wet cutters before and fking hate them. If you're not a tiler and not really disciplined its so easy to get pissed off as yet another line of cold water hits you from belly button to forehead because the guard doesn't work properly or you have to move it to get the tiles in.

Porcelain tiles will cut ok with an angle grinder because they are soooo hard but most cheap ceramic tiles will chip to fuck. You'll better off with a proper tiles cutter that has a water reservoir.

My bro in law has an electric water one. I’ve used them before. Horrible to clean after & if you postpone the clean it’s worse
