I tried some of this for first time other day, very very impressed, £5 from screwfix. You can see the sealing values on container, So much quicker to just dab this on , has anyone tried it on rad tails though? I assume it will work a treat and save 20 wraps a tail.  |

I swapped a combi yesterday, as an extra he asked could I swap 11trvs, 15mm, took me no time at all with this! You should dress a a rad tail Tom ,in a video and check it to 3 bar, 👻👻

Never used these liquid thread seals. There's a few of them about, such as Laco Slic Tite and Loctite 577, etc. I'm far too tight to part with the cash. It's a quid for 5 rolls of ptfe, or £15 to £20 quid for a small bottle of some of this stuff. I'd either lose it, or would forget to put cap back on and spill it all in my tool bag.
I don't do lots of threads in a day, and unless this changes, I'll stick with the rolls of PTFE.
Interesting you call the thread 'Liquid Speed' though, Glowbug. The Yanks call liquid thread seals 'liquid pipe dope' (any Steve Lav fans out there will be familiar with the term). I assume it's because these sealants are used instead of hemp which is something to do with cannabis plants.

He he maybe he thought that , but I mean that as “extra” charge, made it clear not been priced 👍
One time though I was putting a combi in a house which was renovation job.I was asked to just chuck 2 15mm pipes into bathroom whilst I had all gear out!!
I said no, it will take an afternoon, and I would have had to shift a load of building materials out , lift boards etc. I explained, if you want to come to my house and give me 4 hours gardening cleaning etc I’d do it( never got done😇)

Woodie I think they call it pipe dope because. if you sniff it you get high, it bonds with the surfaces so it contains chemical substances, Dick will fill us in on the details, I don't know the facts, I'm just guessing,,  |

Liquid speed as in it was lot quicker than roll ptfe😂😂(not worth sniffing or rubbing onto gums)! I hardly do any tails etc, but being a lazy plumber, anything that makes it easier will do, you get loads for fiver and date lasts over a year once opened. Would be a brave man to use it on cylinder bottom joint mind👻 talking lazy, did you know that bill gates only employs lazy people ? Because they always find a quick and easy way of doing things, and are more profitable !! |

A couple of months ago I renewed a cylinder on solid fuel Ch.
First one for many years and I couldn't get 1" x 1"1/4 adaptors (y72) from anywhere.
Eventually I called at a stove installers place who after going through his stores found a 1" threaded brass socket (which got me to 1" female that I could get a fitting for in 28mm). He gave me a little bit of this stuff in a bag and it did the trick 100%.
I spent almost as much time going round the merchants to get these fittings (that were off the self 10 years ago) than I did fitting that cylinder!

Its crazy, I'm too tight to spend £5 as well and yet on a weekend I can waste £23 on two drinks and knock mine over before I took a sip and think nothing of it.
