Never ever used them!!! 👀 Cheers all Put a strip of masking tape where you are going to cut. It will stop it chipping and make it easier to see your line. Down cut blades are best and will be fine if your cut is against the wall or under a joining plate but if you are hoping to get a nice cut to seamlessly join two pieces together you will need a router and jig

I missed the bit about the sink. If you just need to make the hole bigger any chipping will be under the sink anyway but it's still worth using masking tape so you can see your line better.

Unless you have a good quality powerful jigsaw they can be a bugger to cut worktops, and will wander or cut down at funny angles. A lot of joiners used to start a cut with even a series of drilled holes then continue with a sharp hand saw, for accurate cutting. Maybe just using the jig saw for the radius cuts. A new hand saw will whip through a worktop in minutes.

Ok Rocky, next time I have a bit of worktop I,ll get hubby to do a demo. Funny I was just talking to an old joiner last week about sink cut outs, and he said thats how he used to do it. Most everyone these days has a decent quality jigsaw so wont have a problem with blade wandering.

I have that top end Dewalt jigsaw, it absolutely flys through worktops, a world apart from my old entry level Makita.

I have a cheap as chips B+Q peel, it too cuts ok, I went in B+P one day for some blades, this jigsaw was cheaper than a pack of blades, I thought " whats to lose" and bought it, its superb, 240 volts and the only shit thing about it is, the lead is short and not very flexi, but it cuts like hot butter through a knife, yea I know, I get mixed up, its my age,,
