Back in the early 90's round Surrey there was a large number of water softeners fitted with white disk service valves and when you turned them the disk would blow off and full mains pressure coming at you. That’d be ok in a heat wave 👍

Fucking Gate Valves!! Changing two basin tap heads the other day in a 30-40 year old house. At one time on New Builds you had a 50 gallon tank in the attic that fed the Vented cylinder & all your cold water in the house, apart from the Kitchen sink Cold. So it was two gatevalves up at the 50 gallon tank in the loft, shitting myself turning them On & Off. They looked really shit brass ones too & the system pipework was that fucking SS shit, so I guess it was built 77-78.
Thankfully all OK though👍👍👍
