I want to have a man cave in my garden.
I’d want electric & maybe a toilet / water.
It’ll be about 30ft from my house.
I’d obviously need to dig a trench for a soil pipe, is this length of run acceptable? I believe if I put a toilet in it’ll need building regs?
Also, for the water i can get it there again & use a electric water heater for the hot. I know the min & max depths for it.
What do you think?
Cheers all

Great idea!
30ft should be fine once you can get enough fall in the pipe run to the sewer. Get the electric there with steel wire armoured (SWA) cable. Saves putting down ducting. Sizing depends on what you plan to use there. (Big cable if you're using an arc welder with two kettles boiling water at the same time etc!!) Don't know about the regs though. Sounds like a good project!

I used a saniflow in my man cave, Its the lazy option but works well, as yet, I ran the water on the surface and lagged, well i don't use it in Winter, i have paraffin heaters and no hot water, I keep building on it and soon I'll run out of garden, I love my man cave,

Is it possible to heat a man cave with a small oil boiler? If you needed a couple of rads and no hot water supply?

sure, anything is possible, Its just the cost of it, I could put leccy rads in that would probably be cheaper, In winter its more cosy in the house,

If it was me I'd not bother about money for the council to pay for house benefit building regs. I do my very best to follow them but the idea of paying the council over a grand for a bit of paper annoys me. When I come to sell it will be "sold as seen" which really means the solicitor pocketing a couple of hundred quid for commission on an indemnity policy. If I was doing major structural work like an extension then I probably would back down and pay up but not for the likes of a new toilet or light fitting in the bathroom.
I've always wanted to know more about connecting into an existing manhole so I hope you keep the forum posted on progress!

I agree with Tom on the saniflow it will cut out a lot of hard work and to be honest you're probably only ever really take a slash in it anyway, unless you have the sqits Let us all know when it's built Rocky and we can come round for a man cave party.
