Has anyone come across black pipe it’s about 20 mm and brittle used in domestic plumbing.

1/2 inch black alkathene is 20mm and black but not usually brittle, its quite flexable, you might have some solvent weld pipe, but in my experiance that was grey, but you never know, some bugger might have painted it,

I know 20mm is used for water main & comes in black but when you say brittle.
are you sure it’s not conduit?

Approach it with extreme caution and make sure the stop tap works!
