Is a call I get regular, tonight was from a builder I liked and did loads of work for, his neighbour asked him over, they are having a carpet fitted tomorrow and wanted him to fasten down a few creaky boards, I do not have to tell you what happened next, anyway I went out to help him, he'd hit a 8mm rad pipe, I've no stock at all now so I had to dash off to screwfix and luckily caught them before shutting time, We had a laugh and joke I earned £70 for an hour and half, I don't realy miss any of it now but its good to keep my hand in now and again,

It's the constant struggle that is plumbing that gets to you.
"Can you come to my house and lay under my sink then at full stretch turn a tight nut that won't budge then get some muck in your eye, cut yourself on the ruddy earth clip, then afterwards I'll give you a ring if I get a leak which will most likely be on my old washing machine, which of course you'll have to shift with a mighty "heave ho" and crunch your back in the process)"!
Look after yourself Tom.

I'd almost forgot about them earth clips, what a pain they are, they are ALWAYS in a place you want to cut in, they'll not slide either way because of bends, they are tightened down within an inch of their life and the screw it facing the wall so you struggle like fuck to remove them,

I had a text message earlier, a landlord, he said it’s an hours work. I said ok, I need to drive to you, look at the job, do the job, maybe go & buy something.
He said oh, ok, so what’s the hourly rate. I said £80 labour.
Oh he said, would you reduce to £25?
No mate, I don’t know you so why would I?
How are you paying I ask
Bank transfer he says, ok, it’s £80 an hour for first hour then £40 per half hour.
It’s only a kitchen tap swap, I’ve got to deal with the tenants!
Plus he wants me to buy the tap.
I told him I want the tap money up front
I don’t know why but he seems a bit iffy.
He’s not a indian either!

I'd keep away from him with that attitude, a lot of landlords are just tight skinflints!
If you're ever trying to find a tiny leak seeming coming from no where it's always worth having a look at that earth clip that's been tightened all the way into the copper pipe itself (I've had a number of these over the years)!
Tappy,

Tappy, I’ve told him I’m wasn’t interested. He was shocked! I’ve had to block him as constant messages. Noooo thx pal. I like an easy life.
