I looked at a job over the Easter weekend and the house was a lovely place and must be worth a packet, anyway the customer said you come recommended from a friend and we're after a quote to refurbish two of the bathrooms and the small WC. 6XqEngr88r5GlWolCJDi So I measured up and looked at the suits they'd be buying ,no cheap shit like I'd buy. By the Wednesday they've emailed have I worked out an estimate, have I fuck, I'm busy. So I finally emailed them one and then I get the...oh any cheaper for cash..NO! We can help...NO!...We can take all the old tiles off...NO!...Save on a skip we could slowly run the old suits and rubbish to the tip...NO!. Both of them work in Law and are pleading poverty. Seen it all before you get there and most of the tiles will still be on the wall and they'll help you for five minutes then fuck off out, no skip means shit everywhere and you can't move.I work all or nothing, fuck um!! smiley-confused002asak2

If you want to make money and do a good job there's certain rules the prime one being "Pay the man what he'd quoted cause that's what he needs to make it pay"!
I find charging for quotes works great as its refundable if the job goes ahead - it sharpens their mind on what they want and where they want it etc.

I find its best to work for rich firms - I give them a very good price on a lump sum basis and include my hourly rate in case they delay the job. Now I always find a reason which shows they've delayed the job - next I ask for a variation order so I can attached signed hours worked orders(job sheets) - now I go as slow as I can but give them a job equivalent "a work of art" and a final bill to match!
They never argue since they've already accepted the increase is their fault and never seem to want expose the useless fuc*er who got it wrong in their firm.
It takes bit extra paperwork but that never worries me. smiley-talk002 3 amigos

Plenty of wisdom on display no doubt gained from past experience. One customer quote that instantly gets my guards up is "I used to be in the trade"!!! You've got to be on the ball all the time.
