I reckon my generation of plumbers had the best of the trade, In my early days, the auto washing machine took off and I had lots of cash jobs fitting wash mac valves, then came the gas fires as many went from coal to gas, then came central heating, there were no regs or laws to stop us, no B+Q to supply a diyer, we ruled the roost on plumbing ,gas and lead, Only a plumber would attempt a lead joint and 75% of houses had lead pipes, Scrap and foreigners was our splash cash, the wives had our wages and times were good, happy days,,

Don't forget your waste carriers licence. Or some jobsworth with clipboard and high-vis will ruin your day.
Saying that, I haven't got one. Always take the chance. Anyway, the way I see it, it's not waste, it's second hand goods. Would only be waste if I was going to tip it by a farmer's gate in a country lane or take it to a tip. Has anyone on here got a WCL, or chance it when going to the scrappy for beer and fag money?

As long as you can prove your not fly tipping you're ok, So they want to hear, I'm taking it home, I store it and when i have enough i get a skip, you will have to prove it by showing a previous skip invoice I'm taking to my other job, were i have a skip, they might check that, I have a permit to get on the tip here, they will want to see it, as woody says, they will know a plumber does not fly tip copper, they will accept it as used goods, if you say the wrong thing like, " how did that get there?, " you'll get a £1000 fine,

I find up here there good at knowing who to pull in for those types of waste material offences and don't bother the jobbing builder type licensed or not (I've not got a licence) although if asked I was told to say "everything in that vehicle belongs to me and no items are products of waste". However, I seem to find they'd rather have you pulled in for the diesel dippers or social worker benefit checking.

That's the thing they don't have too you do or they charge you! Thats not a weigh in copper cylinder guv. That is a water syphon reception vessel for emptying large amounts of water from vessels. Thats not scrap copper pipe guv, that is van stock spares piping.(15mm and 22mm sizes) Shall I show you how to solder copper pipe guv to prove it.?And Then I will show you how to syphon water, come to think of it I might clean my syphon vessel and make a homemade smoker or homebrew kit. Youtube it your honour👻👻👻

Out of interest does anyone reuse old copper pipe?
If I pull out old pipe in my house I often reuse it unless its painted in which case I normally can't be bothered.

Old scrap bits come in handy, old bends etc. Used an old painted bit recently for a new rad. Pipe is boxed away so the paint doesn't matter. Have burned paint off as well to solder old pipe. Every pipe can be born again!! (Or burned again!!!)

An old gaffer of mines favourite saying was "here you can utilise this" as he gave you an old bit of copper with fittings attached to it that he'd brought back from the scrappy. Mr Scrappy once told me "he takes away more scrap than he brings in" !!

They’re bastards for hanging around the Scrappy’s Yard up here. Most now just use a Pikey with a Pick-up. Just don’t let them near your Lock-up. Cunt will raid it in the night!!
Oh, you’d be amazed how cheap you can buy a bundle of new copper tube from a Scrappy.
