I'd lift the nearest manhole and take a look to see if the whole drains blocked up.
Smells are often a first sign of this.

Cheers guys . yep endfeed your right it is a cowl, so ill go with Toms first suggestion im awaiting delivery of the snake rod, if no joy ill go with tappy,s idea and have a look down the manholes.... ill report back. Attachment Deleted |

I just re-read your questions again, you've come out in 50mm waste so I doubt it's self Syphoning as I suggest. Anyway if it is just fit a fanny valve to the basin will cure that. Probably blockage as Tom says, good topic keep us up to date with yr findings 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
