Hey up , I fitted new bathroom nearly 2 years ago with the help of tom and the guys on the forum, and the misses tells me that shes getting a bad smell coming from the shower( im working away) - all the waste pipes from the new sink , bath, and shower trap run outside first dropdown then join in 50mm before connecting to the main soil stack-(as per toms great advise at the time).... I used mcalpine traps so the shower trap pulls out and cleans ok, ive got a slight fall on it, ive tiled all the floor in so dont want to be smashing that out, is it possible its syphoning but been ok for nearly 2 years or it it shit in the pipes and if so what the best way to flush it out.. cheers Guys Flint

hi fatflint, the traps are the place to start looking, blocked or partial blocked traps with hair can cause problems, So check the traps first, If its only just started after 2 years then, I'd suspect the trap first and if its a build up further down, then a snake rod might clear it,

Theres the waste pipes connecting to the stack. The shower is the one one the right closest to the stack. Attachment Deleted

yep, sounds like its suckin' the trap out which could mean a partial blockage, the pipe is filling then going slow and taking the trap with it, If you have used solvent weld waste pipes, then my first weapon of choice would be this www.toolstation.com/drain-blast-unblocker/p93465 nice and cheap,

Could we have a self Syphoning problem here with all the waste pipes linked into one? 🤔

thanks for that pic fatflint and, you've got a dergo valve on the soil, try taking that out first,

the dergo would make sense, if thats fucked up, when you flush the bog there is no air being taken in, so it drags the traps out, I'll put my can of lager on it being the dergo,

a cap end will do no good, take it out first of all, it will just pull out although it will not yield easily, once its out, try the traps/shower etc and if its ok, just extend the soil pipe above the windows so it lets air in but keeps the smell out of the house,

I've zoom in on the picture and top of the stack looks like a cowl on the top (vent terminal) however that vent could do with extending. 👍🏼.

you are right enfeed, that looks like an open end with a cowl on, anyways another approach would be to cut off the 40mm elbow at the end of the wastepipe and fit a tee, then put a drain rod cap in the tee, So then if the blockage is in the pipe, you can move it keep us informed fatflint and good luck with it,
