A friend of a friend that I don’t really know asked me to look at their floor.
Bathroom looks nice but the floor I think has been bodged a bit!
The husband has cut a bit out but he can’t get the same depth of new wood to full the gap.
I’m not going to get involved as I’ve told them.
It seems the old floor had board over the top. Or that’s what it sounds like & the board he’s got now to replace it is too shallow this creating a large square dip. I’ve been told other board creates a large square lip.
As I say I don’t even want to look. They don’t want to remove the whole floor as the bathroom is 3 months old.
Would plastic spacers be an option under the new board to try & level it up or would these wear & fail over time?
Any other ideas to raise it by 1-3mm?
I’ve seen a pic & it is noticeable when the carpet is down. Underlay hasn’t helped.
Cheers all.

you cannot win with people wanting a quick patch, Its possible with patience and packing but you cannot tell where the pipes are so, you know whats gonna happen if you guess, and if you take boards up to see where the pipes are, Its a days work, will they pay a days work ??

Go to a proper wood yard and they will machine a piece to whatever size you need. Keep in mind that the old floorboards will have cupped so when you meaaure the the thickness take this into account.
Spacers would work too, or you could overboard the lot in 6mm ply.
