Anyone have a preference on pipe lagging? Is it worth insulating the entire water/heating system?

Depends where it is. If you're in a freezing country like Dick Puller you might need stuff that can withstand - 25!!! I think Armaflex is what you need for that.

Sorry, serious answer is, up in attic insulate the lot. Other than that just anywhere cold and under concrete floors or under floorboards upstairs etc.

I'm on the south coast, so only low minus temps, but still cold enough to freeze pipes. I'm mainly worried about the pipes I'm fitting in the crawl space under the house. That Armaflex looks good, but pricey. Do you have a recommendation for a cheaper one?
Also, is it best to cut the foam so it wraps around the pipe clips, or just butt up to them?

I slit the foam and wrap it round, most are pre cut and just needs a gloved finger to run down the lenght to part it, reason for the glove is, the friction will burn finger if its not protected,

Thanks Cynder and Tom. I'll get what I can afford. I probably won't need gloves, years of welding/cutting etc. have scarred my mitts enough to not feel much! My lungs on the other hand....
