So today I decided to test for gas tightness - I thought not a problem I'll do the testing cause I've watched the video Tom done and I fully understand the job. Now the owner hasn't complained but previously I've felt I could sniff an odd odour at this property and I was returning to finish an existing install. So I connect my manometer up and set it to 28MB and close the feed valve after the ten minute test it had dropped to 20MB
Now I expect some leakage as the property (flat) has the following gas appliances 2 X gas fires 1 X boiler 1 X gas cooker
so my question to the more experienced and gas educated members is what is the acceptable leakage in that test window of ten minutes?

the official acceptable drop is 2MB in a 2 minute test with the appliances connected and NO SMELL of gas, if there is a smell of gas then it MUST be found,
So in that circumstance you should isolate each appliance and test again, there should no no drop on the manometer at all,If there's a drop with all appliances isolated you should find the leak or cap off the gas and fix,'do not use' notices,
the reason for an accepted leak with appliaces connected is, the leak may be inside the boiler and going out the flue,

Well that's interesting cause I isolated the cooker and boiler and got the same values over the same period of testing. The fires are next on my list but not sure how good these installed valves are at isolating the fire Attachment Deleted? after that the gas pipe is installed in the concrete floor so that's going to be interesting.

its a very distinct possibility that the concrete has eaten the copper, its very common, smiley-sad056 nay

those fire isolators like in your picture are reliable, uncrew that slotted cap and underneath is another screw, screw it clckwise to close it, you'll hear a hissing as its going across the open pipe and it will stop as you close it off,

I thought that but I can seen denso tape has been used - I will do the gas fire isolation testes when I remove those caps if the internal valves allow that action (I've had some before with no internals).
If it's a new supply pipe I best get my act together or it's going to be an easy job made hard after the kitchen fitter installs all his gear.

Does anyone know if you can buy the sealing plug on its own for the gas fire valve pictured below? Attachment Deleted

I dunno Battle, Ive never tried, I would think its highley unlikely, I'd go for fitting a new valve on the 10mm near the fire, like this one

good find battle, they all fit on a back knuckle bend so you cant go wrong, the outlet may vary but you can adjust to that,
