after doing some research I have found that silverline and dickie dyer are the same manufacturer for both brands. not sure if one is high end and the other low end.  f.f.s plumber boy I bought the olive splitter tool on your advice, it's silver line shite!!  . |

Its probably just purely financial. i.e. the parent company owns both but leaves each child company to do its own thing:
DDyer - decent stuff (from what I've read) for you lot
Silverline - to waste money from novice DIYers

AJ, the brand now appears irrelevant, regardless of the name stamped on it or who’s selling it, if it’s good quality & value, the why worry👍
A prime example for me was the Silverline heavy duty 22/15mm compression nut spanner. I’m adamant the Silverline one is the same as the Monument one, but a third of the price.
The days of brand loyalty are over, our on-line community & social media are now the reference points for recommendations & reviews.
I’m sure most of these Tool Companies are one step ahead & there’s a team of people sourcing products from anywhere. Who cares if it’s made in the PRC, if it’s a cheap reliable tool it can grace my toolbag👍👍
