Have nearly finished laying new floor. Yesterday I put in a single screw into one board just to hold it as I measured and cut for the others on that row. Fast forward to today, and brother in law helping was removing that board in preparation for glueing and screwing. He lets out a shout and I see a jet of water shooting straight up and splashing everwhere - all over new chipboard (which loves water of course) and insulation. " src="//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/angry.png"> The pipe was a 28mm return to the boiler. I sort of panicked a bit, turned off the water to the CH, turned off the CH electrics then grabbed what I think was denso tape I'd bought years ago - thick gungy tape and covered the hole with that - better than his thumb. Only plus side was I already had some 28mm endfeed fittings and even though this happened over the joist there was enough play to get my slice on and fix it all which I've now done. Three things I don't understand though: 1/ How did I not notice I'd gone through a bloody pipe yesterday? 2/ Having gone through the pipe, surely there'd be hissing or something - it was like that for 24 hours with no water coming through from below. 3/ WTF am I such a fking dafty that can't keep track of all the fking pipes.

The screw would be like a self tapper and will hold water tight for some time, him undoing it released the demons we all fuck up Dafty, that's life mate so don't worry.

1. the screw hit the pipe and sealed it,it would have shown up later anyway, its happened to us all, a moments thoughtlessness , our minds wander from task to the next task, I bet you put tools down and can't find them as well, yep, its all in the game,

its called muscle memory, the muscles in you hands work without engaging the brain, like driving a car, you're not thinking about clutch, gear, blinker, mirror, Its all done by muscle memory, so your hands put a tool down and they can't let your brain know where they put it, So then you can't find it, you learn all things in the brewcabin,,,

And then you find tools that were missing when you're not looking for them so you put them somewhere that you will definitely find them next time you need them and when that time arrives you can't remember where they are again. I actually think elves go into the shed at night and jumble tools up!!

Elves otherwise known as the wife if you leave them on the stairs (meaning to take them up) in the kitchen (meaning to put them in the garage) or anywhere else.

A while back I fitted a combi system for a mate and when he knocked a nail through a floorboard piercing a pipe, I fixed it for him, left it a few weeks, then gave his wife a damn good seeing to. I even shagged her on their lounge floor while he was asleep upstairs in bed. I must admit though, it was more a fanny wank than a proper fuck.
