Hi all. I'm going to move the mains water pipe from the floor of the crawl space under the house and put it on the "ceiling". It terminates into 15mm copper so that will be replaced by22mm. Is lead to MDPE the best way to go, or replace the whole lot? I've got a lot projects on at the mo, and don't fancy digging up the garden to the meter, but will do if best in the long run. Do the water board connect it to the meter if I replace the lot?

hows your pressure Karl ? if your pressure is good, get a transition fitting lead to MDPE, www.gasandwaterpipelines.co.uk/25mm-fittings/25mm-mdpe-x-15-22mm-universal-transition-coupling.html?kw=&ci=249083596545&network=g&pm=&cid=818862847&aid=57388996451&tid=aud-773078946414:pla-801720353445&dev=c&mt=&lim=&lpm=1007230&pos=1o2&dm=&fid=&mid=109646584&pid=P716025&country=GB&source=google&gclid=CjwKCAjw29vsBRAuEiwA9s-0B9furR3ZIVC0AMNQzLy26f2E-RlMWsgfgHUCMPgoNCmojfxwYXgheBoC4YYQAvD_BwEyou dont want to get the water board involved if not necessary because they MAY reduce your pressure, however, if its bad,, less than 10 litres per minute, get a new water main, its done free if your pressure is bad but, you have to connect to the house which involve digging a trench, inspections and paperwork,

Thanks Tom! My pressure is really good, I've no idea on l/m, but quite a flow. Will check it, but guessing it will only get better with 22mm. I'll go with your tip.

Good price that; I'm sure the last one that I bought cost twice the price of that one!
The water board do guarantee you a minimum 1 bar of pressure, however, try and hold them to it and they will want to test it at 4am in the morning when demand is low and the water pressure is at it's highest....crafty buggers eh!

The philmac ones range around £15/£20 but are a better fitting.

Thanks PB, I'll look at them. Hopefully the better quality/price, will make up for my lack of ability!
Crowsfoot, Are you saying they would skew the figures? It took FOUR visits to find out if my gas was still live!!! Hilarious call after the third visit saying I will drill into the pipe to see...

Seems a little extreme measure to go to to find out if it's still live or not Karl.
I've carefully slackened off iron plugs in walls before, but actually drilling the pipe is an idiot thing to do!
I don't think even our beloved Bearswood would even be daft enough to try this.

It would have been ok CF, I would only have used the drill if I couldn't find any grinding discs...
Fortunately a master craftsman turned up with a long key and saved me from calling Bearswood to sort it!
