Hi Guy's got sort off problem with Drayton stat !!!! Now all seems to work fine and does its job properly but occasionally my customer only gets luke warm water and not a full Tank off HOt water.... I have looked at the programmer all seems to work ok !! I actually ran through the full program Live and the boiler switch on and off as it should when running the program on / off in morning & again on / off in the evening this really got me scratching the old bonce !!!! checked cylinder stat all seems fine,, but just wondering if I should change the stat just by chance its that ,,,, the programmer is relatively new 2-3 years at the moment I have just increased the cylinder stat temp to see if this sorts the problem, other than that I don't know .............. Any good suggestions / thoughts would be gladly welcome Many thanks Attachment Deleted

As you can probably tell I'm no plumber but I do have that stat on my cylinder and have replaced it in the past. Is the hysteresis on it getting too big or is it failing in some other way? At just a tenner, I replaced mine: www.ebay.co.uk/p/Drayton-HTS3-Cylinder-Thermostat-I3007/8019509331Note, I'm not 100% sure that will replace it but I _think_ thats what I replaced it with. That's my two penneth but I'm sure you'll get a gold standard reply from the plumbers in due course.....

Astra, How high is the tank stat on the cylinder ?, It needs to be 2 thirds down, if its too high, it only heats the top, if its too low, it heats too much and that is wastefull,,

Tom Tank overhaul measures 950mm and the top of the stat from the top of the cylinder measures 520mm down
Thanks................

I've scetched that out on a scaled drawing and it looks ok, So its either the stat or the motorized valve imho or maby just a loose wire, These are problems we all go through, you don't want to buy the wrong stuff without being sure and intermittent faults such as this can be time consuming and expensive, I'd explain to the customer that to pin it down is going to take time at £x amount per hour or wait till it packs in altogether and we know whats wrong, Attachment Deleted

Now for my fault the central heating worked fine, just intermittent warm water not hot water from the taps.
This was my similar fault couple of weeks ago and it turned out to be the programmer failing and this is how I identified the programmer.
I removed the cylinder stat cover and added a singles wire to the feed connection to the stat from the programmer to a temporary potable light fitting which I positioned so the customer could watch the light was illuminated during the hot water demand period. Now you'll need to get a neutral connection from a convenient location for your return path so the lamp can illuminate as the installed tank stat didn't have one. After a couple of days the customer reported no light illumination during 3/4s of the hot water on period on the afternoon setting of demand.
Cure new programmer, so no really outlay to identify the fault as I had those simple items available.

good idea that battle, the costumer monitors it and that saves you being there for a full day , very clever,,,

Those little light fittings are very handy for all sorts of testing situations 👍
