Are these two valves compatible with each others cradle? Both look identical.

So if 2 inch then neither would work in my cistern with hole 2.5 inches ?
Also for a concealed system I'd need a longer push button air pipe ? Maybe the new valve would be compatible with the existing (ancient) button - its jut a flerxible tube that pushes on? I'm guessing not....

Thanks a lot PB !
Out of interest should it come with the cradle base thing? In a fit of daftyness, I removed mine. I suppose I could put it back if I can get it to seal ok but the flange where the flapper washer seals is very small.

Cheers once again PB - that's in my basket.
Hopefully last question is if I need to cut down or extend the existing flush pipe to accomodate, what fixings should I use? I tried both my 40mm and 50mm and of course they were too small and too big.
Is the worst case a new flush pipe and then trim that down to side?

ACtually thinking about it I could probably lower or raise the cistern a few millis should the need arise and I definitely can't drill the fixings any worse than the person who originally installed it. Looks likes I'll be having a fun Christmas. Much better getting up close to my bog than spending time arguing with the family....

Put some photos up of the valve Dafty, it’s likely one of us will recognise it. There’s a big chance you’ll get a washer set for it👍

And here is/was the valve: Attachment DeletedBut too late now as I've fitted PB's recommendation. A good quality valve with a nice button. Only slight downer was the cutout was a few mm smaller than existing. Solved that by fitting it on top and leaving the existing front button in place (The whole cloakroom is gonna get ripped out at some point anyway. I'm sure though I'll find a use for the new Macdee even when I do get around to doing up the cloakroom properly)

Nice work dafty, you truly are a very good diyer, few questions,1:did the new flush valve you use fit the cradle from the old one or did you change the job lot? 2: whats the black pipe coming of the old flush valve? 3:could you knot of cut hole bigger from existing button to accommodate new button?
