I'm going to stop working on Friday afternoons, they always bring out the bastard jobs. Nice little earner today, swap out an electric shower. The old one was a Redring with a plastic 15mm - 3/4 union adapter pictured below Attachment DeletedNot come across this fitting before but no worries, swap it out for a 15mm compression elbow and I'll be done in no time - famous last words... The image below shows what's coming out of the wall. Attachment DeletedSo I tighten the elbow and it's just spinning on the pipe, I then gorilla it up and still just spinning on the pipe, tried a different elbow and same, the twat's just spinning when fully tight. Took the elbow off and stuck a 15mm ISO on there and it tightens up nice and firm and is solid. Because it was getting on for 4pm I thought 'fuck it' and left the ISO on there. I'd normally sweat the elbow off and re-do it coming out of the wall but the electric cable runs alongside the pipe in the wall and I'd rather not melt it. I even tried filing off a couple of mm off the 15mm copper pipe in case it was the stop depth in the compression elbow that was the problem but it made no difference. Has anyone had this issue before? It's a first for me. Luckily the customer is fine about it, top bloke to be fair.

yep, if a jobs going to go wrong, Friday is the day it will, I made a rule for myself a long time ago, if you've worked on a job all week, never fill it on a friday, You just know it will leak and not show till you're in the pub ,,,

I forgot to update this. I got an olive puller from amazon with next day delivery for £12 and pulled the nut and olive off on Wednesday, never been in a situation before that I didn't manage without an olive puller. Handy for the odd occasion when you need it. Still don't know why the elbows were just spinning with the old olive...
