Well firstly sorry for creating two threads in one day but this cheap tap just arrived.
I'm suspicious its not all there because some of the packaging had been ripped open so probably a customer return but its all in good nick so don't plan to return just for the sake of it. Anyway, for fixing this tap to the worktop all there is is in the photo (which includes their "instructions").
Shouldn't there be at least another rubber washer/gasket so that there is one top and bottom? And does the metal one go at the bottom below a rubber one?

Evening DD - The instructions you posted show how it's meant to have and rubber gasket and rubber washer used in the installation of the tap between the worktop.

So it sounds like I am missing at least a rubber gasket? I don't know why they call one a gasket and the other a washer and I don't know what that metal washer is for.

The steel washer goes between the black locking nut a rubber washer in the instructions. A gasket is used to seal and a washer is for none sealing duties eg to allow a more secure install or aesthetic application.

Yes your rubber washer for the top of counter is missing, between countertop and bottom of tap like the one right here at the start of this video which you MUST NOT WATCH!! but just pause when it starts!!! to see washer, something like that should do. You have the gasket.

Wow - thanks a lot Cinders, Battle and all. I've finally got it I think !
Bloody amazon sending me returns again.
Dick's point did make me think that this tap isn't ideal anyway as it has a flexible spout which must surely put a lot of stress on the sink. Might just send it back and get a more normal one.
Learn't a lot about what a washer, gasket is and where they sit on the tap. Thanks again all !

Thanks Dick I wouldn't have thought of that and I'm very glad you made do so. Seems there are a few on the market most costing half as much as the tap itself ! Would you recommend this one particularly or could I try find a cheaper one? Found a cheapo plastic Franke one being sold on ebay for about £5. I'm thinking of using this plus would using rigid copper tails help instead of the flexis ?

Oh don’t thank me dear boy, ‘Try the rest, then try the best’!!!
With a smaller tap, I don’t see why the cheapo one wouldn’t do👍💋
