We all know that dead legs are against the rules on Hot & Cold pipe work because of the risks of legionella growth, but what are the rules and regs for heating systems? I've got to remove a load of rads next week in an office block and disconnect a few AHU's. Advise always appreciated folks!

dead legs on heating will collect the air but, can be vented via the rad valves so not a problem, If you are refitting them later don't worry about them, If you are not refitting them, its good practice to take the pipework out back to the tee's, although its not always practical to do so,

The rads will not be going back and capping back at the tee's will be a massive ball ache! Is it acceptable to leave dead legs on heating circuits with air vents at the end of the legs?

If it's a quoted job and not to their scope of works and the systems being drained to do your job I would remove the valves and just use endfeed caps solder at a convenient point to the exit point of the floor or wall.

you will have to cover your arse on this one clart, I would have no problem in saying it is acceptable but, who's the person in charge ? if there's a clerk of works or a project manager or some other pen pushing desk jockey in the mix, It might turn nasty, Get it cleared by the person who's paying you. An old saying of mine is, " if you want to know where the train is going, ask the engine driver "

Nice one guys, I'll ask the questions before I cut anything out. The job is a real pain, full PPE, no use of stepladders, must wear sleeved tops (no tee shirts), must use hand rails when using the stairs and must be escorted at all times when on site... I'm not looking forward to this one

the problem with those jobs are, there's no fucker about to ask what to do, so you do it as you think it should be done, in normal hours the suits will claim credit for your good work and slate you for the work done, not as they wanted it, Still, if the pay is good fuck um,,,
