So there I was soldering the final bits of the cold feed when I looked down and noticed some solder had spread itself over the top of a waste part elbow ! I hadn't noticed when it happened and I'm 100% sure I covered the waste pipe with a matt when soldering. So molten solder must have been in contact with the pipe and therefore must have melted it but it feels quite solid - just like normal waste pipe. I blasted some water through (conveniently to hand now at last !) and nothing came out but its at the top. So have I got to go to the ballachke of cutting that section out and going shopping for a new swept elbow or do you reckon its ok even if the pipe fills up ?

You're doing a good job there matey, looks like one of my college pics for my city and guilds portfolio Thanks JC! I'd have thought even when at college you'd (unlike me) have progressed out of Yorkshires by then. I wanted it like that as there is a space in the sink unit at the back and top just high enough to reach all the valves including nuts if they every leak. That way all my appliances and everything can be shut off from one place and the only fitting that isn't soldered are the ones screwed into the back of the dishwaser/washing machine. On the wall it also keeps all the copper out of the unit. Never used to many bloody clips before.

Your doing grand job DD and I hope your enjoying the fruits of your labour as your space takes shape.
I wonder are you going to insulate the cold feed DD as condensation behind cabinets can and have caused interesting problems?

Thanks Battle and that is a very good point - I'll be completely honest and say I don't know why but I hadn't thought about it ! Very good point though and just in time. I'm not sure I'd get the thicker style pipe insulation round it but think I already have some of the thinner stuff - hopefully better than nothing?

nice job Dafty, most plumbers, including me, hate lagging pipes and never bother inside a heated house but, I agree that, its better insulated, it stops it freezing and helps with condensation, well done you,
