I’ve got a 20 year old Bristan shower that I need to change the cartridge on. It’s stuck. Anyone got any suggestions as to the best way to get it out I’ve sprayed it with silicone spray, wd40, hit it, it won’t budge. I’m going back on Monday. Maybe the spray will soak in but at present it’s stuck! Cheers all.

I would change the whole shower, bristan are not the best so, if the cartridge is stuck the seals will be stuck too and scale build up inside, ask the client if they want a Good one £££££s or a cheaper one £££s, they are all the same pitch so it won't matter and then its all new,

It’s got to be fixed. This is a £400 shower
You can get smaller same style ones for £150
This valve is coming out!

On the modern Bristan valves they just pull off, on some older valves you have to unscrew the chrome peg first, a bit of heat usually does the trick, pour a kettle of boiling water over it, failing that do you have a heat gun rocky?

I’ll get some of that Keep it in the van It's great stuff but don't leave it on chrome too long it'll even remove the chrome colour and tarnish the surface. 30 seconds on and rinse off and repeat, that's the safest option.
