I was reading an article on pro press out in the States and it was saying the older pro press is starting to leak in areas where it is only well water apparently something in the well water is destroying the rubber seal. I think they had the same sort of problem with Buteline years ago. Plumb old school I say

Yeah stick to what’s tested.
One thing I can’t stand is people ‘experimenting’ on things that they won’t try at their house.
Winds me the fuck up

They should keep things simple, can't beat a better joint than a soldered joint

they've stood the test of time, pushfit have failed the test of time and many hundreds of miles have been fitted, it will all fail eventually and the clock is ticking, If any of my customers need me to put it right, they will need a spade

If rubber washers have to be replaced from time to time then it just makes sense that any piece of rubber will perish eventually! I'm sure there's even proof of this at a lot of maternity wards

Plenty vehicle Orings fail due time degradation as with rubber timing belts etc it's made to fail!

That well water is quite aggressive. Any fans of Steve Lavimoniere (next level, Mama!!!!) on Youtube - the best Stateside plumber - will remember the pipes eaten through and corroded equipment when he's working on a place in the sticks that gets it's water from a well. Not a place to be experimenting with fittings, etc.
