I have been known to paste olives, but I find it quicker and cleaner to PTFE. Either way I think its best to put something on an olive if it be paste or PTFE, the time it takes it's worth doing.

Apart from Rad valves, I never bother Pasting or PTFEing new rad valve olives as they never leak for me, it's just valves in general, ballofix etc and male irons I think it's worth the time applying something to the olive. Why is that?

I bought some ballofix from wickes & they were crap. I bought more from Williams WRAS ones & you could tell the difference in quality straight away.
I use jet blue
Very rarely ptfe but I’d do it to get myself out of trouble.

Bet they weren't cheap either. If I was in Wickes and wanted to have a laugh, I would have a look at the prices of their plumbing fittings. Hilarious! Only plumbing stuff I buy from Wickes is their rads which seem good quality and value.

Our local branch has now closed. Used to be more tumbleweeds blowing through the aisles than punters. Somewhere to go if you wanted to be alone.
Used to be busy with lots of tradesmen years ago, but too much competition now. As time went on, there was less and less reason to visit.

Where ever there is a Wickes there is normally a Screwfix and toolstation in throwing distance, who the fuck is going to pay their prices on items they can purchase over the road for half the price. The staff are fucking useless too Hope they go bust the stupid robbing cunts

Like everwhere these days Wickes are ok for some things and crazy for others. I don't think I've ever bought any plumbing stuff there but tiles, doors, plaster and aggregates are often cheaper than the merchants (for me anyway). SCrewfix is often good on price but need to watch out as there are many lines that are overpriced.
As for ptfe, I'm ashamed to say every time I go to the bog in our house I see a little ptfe peaking out from the bathroom rad valve which I put on years ago before I learned from you guys how to do it properly!

Yes, forgot about the doors. In January we wanted to give Mum's place a bit of a lift without spending much. Decorated it and bought half a dozen Wickes Stirling 4 panel white internal doors. £21 a piece on offer, delivered. As Mum would say, "you couldn't make them for that". Bless her!
So for me, doors and rads worth going to Wickes for. Not much else.
