Just seen this on facebook, pair of outside taps for £60. Done right there's £40 worth of materials there leaving £20 to pay for fuel, tools, time etc... I'm guessing no DCV because the photo shows bib taps with built in check valve so not compliant with regs but who really cares. They'd need to do hundreds of these to make any money. They won't make any money. I can sit at home and earn fuck all and not wear my tools or van out. Jokers like that won't survive for long

I'd say that's a, foot in the door, type of salesman/plumber, Once he gets there, they find he's a fox in sheeps clothing, OR. he's fireman and on his days off he fits those £9 kits which include, tap, self cut valve, a small hose from valve to tap and a taillight guarantee,

One guy, built like the proverbial brick sh1t house, started sniffing around everything else including the gas cooker saying that if he saw anything not up to current regs he would be required to fix it. I asked him to leave but I'd imagine many elderly would feel very intimidated.

Scottish Water will not give you a connection otherwise.

I have started using wash mac valves with a cv but I don't think it's a dcv. Have you got a link dick?

If I remember from doing water regs, the bib tabs with built in check valves were not to regs because the first hard frost could freeze the tap and wreck the CV. Then the tap would carry on being used with a broken CV. If the cv is inside the house on the pipe - far less chance of freezing.
