My house is an S plan with two valves (heating & HW) but they are both fitted immediately after the flow on the pump - is that wrong and they should be on the return?
There is a clear path from boiler to vent without any valves in the way but the pipe is a combined vent/feed (I'm worrying about this now....)
I'm about to re-jig all the pipework in the airing cupboard and add a third zone and also replace existing drayton with honeywell. Should I go the whole hog and put all 3 of them on the return or does it not make that much different?

It won't make any difference DD (put it back the way it was if it's all working fine is a very old plumbing adage).
Combined feed and expansion is OK too (although it is frowned upon in this modern age).

Ideally there should be a by-pass after the pump and before the zone valves.

Ideally there should be a by-pass after the pump and before the zone valves. Yep there's one there but its always hard to know if its set properly. If its set too loose then I've always thought I'd be losing pressure on the rest of the system and if too tight then it won't act as a bypass.
