Or as one of Toms videos says, "You don't get owt for nowt!"
Working for a scrappie, I got to by a lot of copper pipe. Cheaply! However... on starting to pipe up the rads, 15mm olives won't fit over, despite cutting a fresh end and cleaning. Nor will the pipe fit in the bender. Fuck. Fortunately, only a couple of lengths are "duff". So far... I've not tried the 22 yet.
Using a tape and failing eyesite, (my micrometers are at work), they all seem 15mm, although the duff ones are a heavier gauge.
It's not a problem, yet, I'll weigh them back in!
Long post to ask you knowledgeable people what (pipe ), you think I have.

Could it be imperial pipe? I know you can get different olives for them - can't remember if slightly bigger or smaller.
Also, don't forget not to use pipe that's been on heating for your drinking water. Not sure if there is always a way to tell? My heating pipes are fucked with sludge so its dead easy to see a lot of staining.

You’re using 2nd hand pipe? Has the pipe been used or is it new pipe?
It’s a gamble if you ask me as it might be full of holes.
It’s like going to do a job for someone & they say I’ve got loads of screws in the shed & they bring back an old biscuit tin full of rusty screws of different sized! Errr .. no thx mate, I use new screws.

It might be the old, what we called council pipe, the council clerk of works always demanded 1/2 inch thick walled copper, getting 15mm fittings on it was hard to do, it could be that,

Most of the pipes are 3m lengths, no sign of being used. Also, makers/suppliers sticky tape wrapping a lot of them together. Just a few errant ones leading me to ask questions.
I will use anything in a pinch, don't we all?, but I will use the best I can, to do a good job, whosoever it is for.
I've made a pressure tester, thanks to one of Toms videos, so will see about leaks. When I get to that point! That was what I was thinking Tom, but I don't believe they are that old. Though what do I know?

if they are the old council copper pipes, I'd take them to a scrap yard you're not know at, and weigh them in, You'll get top dollar because of the thickness, then buy some cheaper copper to do your job,

Did some Hydraulic Pipe Fitting back in the late 70’s. Heavy Duty 1/2” imperial copper pipe, it was too big for 15mm fittings, as we nicked a load for Homers. Good Weigh In though👍👍👍

Long post to ask you knowledgeable people what (pipe ), you think I have. Probably 5/8" refrigeration copper tube you have about 15.9mm Dia. and heavier gauge than table X, also comes in 3M lengths.

Sounds to me like Arfurs nailed it again. I've occasionally come across this larger than 15mm copper before. Once it was in a big restaurant that was opening up in 1hrs time with the mains cut into. I had to open up the larger diameter 15mm more with with a socket former (with a high degree of difficulty) to get the 15mm to join it. Phew!!
NB Imperial half inch copper is only very slightly larger than 15mm. It normally only takes a tap with the hammer to get them to fit. Does anyone remember the 1/2" to 15mm adaptors that were specially made when we went metric that nobody ever needed?
