Hi all, I've been looking to replace our Loo with a more modern and efficient one. I've looked on screwfix, B&Q, etc with A bewildering array of manufacturer's also many reviews differ in that some say they are good, whilst other reviewer's report that they are rubbish......... can anyone recommend a good source of makes, and also as some come with float valves and flush systems... Are these any good or would you change the ones supplied with more reliable / reputable ones?? We're looking at close coupled loos Thanks,

Armitage shanks, ideal standard.
I’ve even fitted ‘toilet in a box’ from wickes that we’re ok.
Stay away from Victorian plumbing!!!

Yes, most come with valves etc. some are even fitted but might need nipping up.

Rocky's talking sense as usual, it all depends on what you want, a toilet in a box, or a toilet to go, or what ever they name it, is cheap, workable and easy, I always use the parts inside and they are as good as any, after all, you're going to shit in it, On the other hand you might want a high priced Italian made high quality toilet, It will have its own fittings too but, you will need adaptors and when it fails, you will need to buy high priced replacements or convert and it still only is, something to shit in, end of the day the choice is yours, they all work the same but the cost is from £50 to £500+

they all must come under the, sale of goods act, which states that, anything you buy must do as it describes for a minimum of 6 years, My criteria for buying anything is,,,,,I want the best quality available, for the least amount of money,

I bought X3 toilets from bq,they had siamp parts inside. I waited few years for these to fail and replaced with fluid master parts. Been happy with these bogs for about 8 years now and still happy now.... nearly forgot ,X2 bog seats have been replaced too.cant see the point in £500 for a bog👍

If you’re on a tight budget, then the bog-in-a-box from B&Q or Screwfix is as good as any, but buy a separate Toilet Seat. The one in the box is rubbish.
It’s always good to speak to your local independent Plumbers’ Merchant. They can do you a good deal & generally stock good quality gear. See what they offer, come back & ask us👍 Stay safe.
