Might be having the boiler checked for lodger certification tomorrow or on Tuesday. Can he fail it due to control box cover not being on? Its been off for years and I can't find screws but got some that seem to fit. What I don't understand is how to attach it at the back? Hopefully pic says a lot more than I could.... Attachments:

I dunno whether it will pass or not, It all depends on if its safe, like bare electrcal conections, I don't recongnise the make, its a badged gas board job normally they either slide in from the front on a ledge or, self tap from below, the man coming will probably refit it for you aa he will need to remove it first, just leave it off underneath and act dumb, say I took it off for you, if he asks for the srcews, say,,I left them on the panel,,,fuckin kids,, he will probably have spare ones in his van, they normally don't put them all back,,

Its an Ideal 3100 RD1. I know there are two screws at the front of it but can't see what fixes it at the back. Could it be I need to take the main cover off ?

No, those covers are always awkward, thats why you, or whoever took if off, never refitted it, let the cert man work for his easy money, he will need to remove it anyway, whether its fitted proper or hanging off, just do an homer simpson, " I dunno, is that not how it goes ? the last gasman said it was all good ",,

There’s Keyhole slots on one bit & screws on the other bit Dafty. Two maim screws at the rear to hold the cover on.

Cheers for the replies esp Tom reminding me I can't leave exposed electrical parts ( ! - that's why I'm a dafty) and Dick for how to put it back. Another pic added. I just can't see where the fixing is at the back. If I can't figure it out by tomorrow I'll go with Tom's idea of playing dumb - easy in my case. Attachments:

Well managed to get it on. Not my finest job but can't see how to improve. It seems to fit with 2 screws at the front and flaps a bit lose at the back. Its not that noticeable and I just can't see anything at all for it to attach to at the back. The main cover is sealed well (by visual inspection). Attachments:
