I posted some time ago about me dad's kitchen tap leaking whenever he ran the taps in the bathroom. Just like to update you all on this. He's had his boiler serviced and mentioned this to the chap doing the service. He's told him the only thing to do is to,,,,,,, change the taps in the bathroom, then change the taps in the kitchen for ones with washers in them instead of cartridges (1/4 turn type) Now then, I'll bow to the superior knowledge on here, but I don't think he needs to change the bathroom taps (sink and bath) ?? Whatcha all reckon ? I could change the kitchen tap easily (as I installed his kitchen sink a few years back )

Yeah, I can’t see why either.
How long has this been going on?

It's not common but it is something that can happen when the 1/4 turn cartridges are wearing out. Change the cartridges in the kitchen tap and problem solved.

Sounds very like a pressure & vibration problem JJ. Is his incoming Mains Water Pressure very high? Has the Mains Stopcock been turned down a bit? That’ll reduce the flow & may have some effect.

Well, me dad's had his kitchen taps replaced for one that has tap washers inside. Couple of hours work if that. The company that did it charged him £120... I should have offered to replace it for £119.99p.

I'm sure I could have replaced the 1/4 turn taps for summat with washers in and cured it for a lot less than £120 though. What ya reckon ,, about £35-45 for taps and less than an hours work?
