The old Part2 ball valves were By-Law friendly.

Its an old scenario where if, the upstairs toilet has a overfull cistern and the water main was cut off, your misses was in the kitchen filling a pan, because the water has stopped coming in but, the pipes are still full of water, it is possible for her to fill a pan siphoned from the toilet, As you can see, its a certain situation that can happen but, not for very long because as soon as the overfull cistern fall below the ball valve entry, the water will stop, You've a better chance winning the lottery, This is how some people make a living, inventing scenarios that CAN happen, then make a product to stop it, then enforce the sale, in the words of the brewcabin,,,utter bullshit,

Made me think that in a house with good pressure mains, why have a cistern at all ? What toilet cistern? How will you flush the toilet if you didn’t have a cistern?

Wonder why they're not popular or even legal in the UK? Presumably you'd have some kind of check valve? UK houses are generally smaller than US ones so you'd think the extra space would be valued.

WC direct flush valves were not permitted in the UK by the Water Authorities. They thought it was too much of a risk for contamination.
