A couple of years ago I asked a question if anyone knew what this switch did? The Boiler Doctor (whatever happened to him) didn't even know and asked about it on another forum that he posts on they thought it might be linked to an Immersion Heater Boost Switch - it was the best answer I got, and dispite it not feeling right, I went with it. Well today I've finally got the real answer to it - it's linked to a weather compensator on the A.S. unit itself which detects when there is a higher than normal ambient temperature the unit will then switch into a reduced power mode taking into acount the higher than normal outside temperature and saving energy in the process, hence "Economy Switch". Ain't it easy once you know!

I asked an air source engineer about it today he was working at the same address as me and I managed to work it into the conversation I was having with him. Mystery switch solved!!!

Weather Compensation
Automatic adjustment of the heat pumps output temperature depemdent on the outside temperature.
The above is taken from a book that I have had for a long time on heat pumps.
I had the answer to that ruddy "eco boost" switch all the time but just didn't know how to find it!!
