Hi guys, I've got to switch the water back on to a large building tomorrow after lockdown. I've had a council suit and boot twat asking if the water supply pipes needs to be cleaned before I switch it on, I've said it doesn't because there's no c.w.s.t just instant water heaters in toilets and kitchens. Does anybody know if this is correct 🤔

If so you’d need to pasteurise them, other than that I think your ok to switch on, was the building drained on shutdown?

It was drained in march for lockdown, there is a hairdresser training school in one bit, bar in another part, bogs, urinals, it's got instant water heaters everywhere...

The only bit I could add Endfeed is:-
We were always trained if refilling from a drain down then room must be ventilated (Windows or doors opened) while the air discharges into the room as your potentially depriving yourself of oxygen from the stale air within the pipework etc.

I would say just give the main a good flush out by running all the taps for 15 minutes - it could set a few ballvalves off running though, so get ready for some extra work EF.
Legionella is waterbound so that one won't be living in those empty pipes.
It could be a sluce valve on the main so if it appears to be fully turned on already then that's what it'll be (they turn the other way - clockwise to turn on).
Good luck,
Let us know how it goes.

It’s always an arse twitching moment when the stop dock is opened & strange noises start to sound like the heavens are about to open.

As an employee EF, just do as you are instructed, Ask the council suit and boot to, phone your gaffer if he's not happy with what you are doing and explain that you'll be standing about and need a ' day work' sheet signing for while you are on down time,
