So, I need to do a mist coat.
Before I used Dulux white emulsion as it was on ceiling. This time there’s a whole house so would a cheaper paint be ok for the most cost or should I stick with Dulux?
Also, I usually do about 70% paint & 30% water.
Any thoughts?
Cheers all

I use cheapest contract emulsion mixed with water for mist coat. Then if I've got more time than money I do a few extra coats with undiluted cheap contract. Final coat I use a vinyl emulsion. Been buying Leyland Trade Vinyl last few years and like it.
Don't agree that dulux is the best. Dulux Trade is good but pricey unless you're a builder needing pallets of the stuff. Regular dulux isn't very good IMO.

I’ve always used Dulux.
I tried another make one & it was absolutely shite.
The Dulux trade is £35 for 10l in Wickes so with 10% off of that it’s £32.

Looked again
The Wickes trade Matt emulsion £15 for 10 litres
The Crown is cheap too
Just for the mist coat I might go cheap
It might be a mistake. As long as it doesn’t run I can always do another cost with the trusted Dulux.
I might do a test walk.

Assuming your walls have been left to dry properly they will be (should be!) bone dry and will suck up any mist coat immediately so definitely shouldn't run. I've done a few ceilings and it doesn't drip just dries almost instantly.

I've done a few ceilings and it doesn't drip just dries almost instantly. I’ll make sure everything is bone dry. There’s no rush. I’ll probably rid down all the wood first which is she’ll of a job. To be honest I don’t like any decorating really. I like it when it’s over.
