Hello all I’ve just had a new boiler fitted and the installer recommended fitting a frost stat as it’s in an outhouse, I’m looking at a Honeywell T4360A1009 couple of questions 1. Do I need one 2. If so what’s the wiring procedure

Since the install location could easily freeze I would fit one if it was my home.
Normally a simple job as many boilers have the facility linked out - so its a simple remove the link and the connection of your stat to that location. Now there's loads of more complicated ways to connect into the system with pipe stats etc but what is the priority item is that this frost stat overrides all other instructions eg programmer on / off times etc. To ensure the boiler fires into operation at the desired protection temperature.
So check the boiler wiring diagrams/ instructions and see if you can find the frost stat terminals within the terminal strip first.

I thought all modern boilers had one built in these days?

For that type of job I personally prefer a thermostat which has the facility to shows the actual ambient temperature of the space the boiler is installed in and must be mains operated not battery. Why it makes checking simple and I've had more hassle of batteries failing due to the cold temperature it's meant to be protecting against.

For the system you need a Frost Stat & Pipe Stat. The pipe stat goes on the CH Return pipe. This will shut down the CH when it’s up to temperature & it’ll not run continuously, even in Freezing weather. Both stats are wired in series; static-cdn.imageservice.cloud/5224209/installing-a-pipe-stat-in-series-with-existing-frost-stat-diynot.jpg
