Went to fix a leaky tap at mums today. 5 minute job, get brownie points, nick a bit of my step-dads whiskey, and go...
My washers were 1/2", not 3/4, so I re-seated, and thought I'd flip the washer over. The washer is recessed into the jumper, with a lip covering the metal.
I can't find any washers like it, so could I use a "normal" flat, as long as it is thick enough to stop the metal parts touching? The slight drip it now has, needs more force to turn than mums arthritic hands can muster, and I'm trying to save on the price of some lever ones. Any ideas, fine bods of the Cabin?

arthritis is a cunt, I have it and turning taps is hard, even for me, get your mum some lever taps, she will love you for it and step daddy ho will too, you know it makes sense,

Thanks Arfur, I'd looked at that, but it's not the same. Went back to mums, a bit pissed off that I couldn't change a tap washer...., and had a look at the cold tap. Bog standard 1/2". Changed both. Happy Mum, and son.
I don't know what had been put in, and no pics as it got fired out the window . Whatever bodgery had occured, it did work! My guess is my engineer step-da. When I can get back to work, mum's getting some lever ones!
Thanks Brew Cabin!, for replying to a, what was, (in a captain hindsight way), stupid and easily sorted question. I'll blame incompetence, though over thinking probably paid a big part. Too much time on my hands at mo....
