So I got a sparky to wire up a newly installed s plan system with a Nest. What a shambles. I got him a wiring centre. He said he couldn’t use it as there was no bottom entry acres so he used his own. I left him to it, no watching or spying. Big mistake. He emerged 4 hours later & declared it sorted. I filled the system yesterday & a couple of leaks, easily fixed. Then..... Nothing worked, no power to the boiler, nothing. I opened up his wiring box to find what I describe as a shambles. I phoned him & asked what the hell had he done, he got defensive telling me it’s not a standard s plan. Ridiculous. He hadn’t wired the pump to the boiler, no SL from the boiler to the wiring centre, complete rubbish. I undid everything this morning & used my wiring centre of which I cut the bottom lugs to allow cable access! Wired it up, 2 hours, all working although I had confusion with the Nest. Here’s a pic of what a qualified electrician did. He thinks it’s top work, I disagree. Nothing against the wago system but for a ch system I like to see clearly what goes where. What do think? Cheers all

Well done Rocky in achieving what another trade should of managed to do for the monies paid.
Other than each cable should be labelled FOR EASY OF IDENTIFICATION that's what any juction box of that nature looks like.
However, a wiring centre makes follow on a much simpler option and when receiving TESTING advice remotely it's priceless, which is just about impossible for a bespoke junction install.

Ah yes, it’s a lesson for us all. Some learned it at an early age; NEVER pay a Spark to wire your systems. Most Sparks are Fudge Packing idiots, their brain doesn’t work & can’t understand controls.
Is it HW & CH Nest matey??

Agree with Dick - most sparks are fuckwits when it comes to ch electrics. Heating engineer would be much better bet. Wouldn't worry too much about neatness in ch wiring centre - but it's always a bonus. Yours is quite neat compared to some. Prefer to see long block connector instead of Wagos, only because I would find it easier to fault find.

Two gang 35mm surface fitted patress, 5amp strip connector & a two gang blank plate is all you’ll ever need👍👍👍
Ive been using Bootlace crimps lately, they’re great for strand flex.

Next time I can get in the training center I'll do a quick video of an S plan wiring system that's been set up in there, might be interesting?

Rocky If it was my job while its fresh in your mind I would number each cable then do a cable identification listing to match that cables function.
it will pay dividends in the future for speed of repair as you'll be the repairer and it won't be chargeable.

We think alike I’ll do it neater & label the cables too. That’s a good idea, cheers

The Nest part at the bottom is wrong. It’s what the electrician said was right but it was way way wrong.
