on a recent visit to Cannock war graves I noticed the buildings were fitted with copper down pipes,I have never seen these before and am a bit surprised given the scrap value that they even exist

That is very unusual , it looks brand new and must have cost a lot and will be gone soon, the gypo's can smell copper and brass a hundred miles away,

Looking at the patina on the existing Copper Roof, it looks like it’s been there for a number of years👍

I suppose once it goes green most people wont be any the wiser-walking round the graves a lot are first world war,should have said this is a german grave yard but still sad even tho they were the enemy they were still young lads most in their early 20's en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cannock_Chase_German_Military_Cemetery

Only ever seen it on church at Caterrick Garrison - roof, down pipes and cross.

Seen old copper drain pipes in Czech Republic with soldered joints.
