Hi all New to the forum Whats the best method of joining 15mm copper pipe to a steel heating pipe if found under the floor on a heating system.and what size will the steel pipe be Many thanks It's usually easier to go back to the nearest joint and use male iron X copper coupling, if it's 1/2" malleable iron and in good nick you can use a 22mm compression coupling with a 3/4" imperial olive in it.

hello Windy welcome to the brewcabin and thanks for you inquiry, Its a rare happening to find steel/iron fittings under a floor unless its a big house, like a palace/mansion but, it has been known, You would need to know the size of the pipe and what is available, basicly iron pipes start with 1/2 inch and under a floor you would only expect to find 1/2 inch or maybe 3/4 inch BUT you would't know because the actual size of the pipe is much larger, So pictures of the pipes would be crucial , Once I can see the situation, Only then can I give my opinion on the best way to do it, So please come back with pics or more details and we can help you,

Thanks for replies guys
There isn't an actual real job. I saw a plumber come across one on a heating system on YouTube and he had to cut into it and couple it into 15mm copper. Was just curious as to what he used.
Thanks again

Cut a thread on MI or back to the nearest fitting as said. OMG!! Black MI or Black Death as we called it. Used it for years on commercial stuff, cut n thread or weld.
