Here’s a question I’ve been asked
A lady has a unvented cylinder with system boiler
She’s been away & has just got home. Heating & hot water have been turned off for 2 weeks.
She said when she ran her hot tap the pressure was weaker than before.
So the question was/is:-
When the water in the cylinder is hot will the pressure to the taps increase?
I should say she’s had no work done & says nobody has been there & fiddled with anything while she has been away.
Cheers all

Cheers all When it heats up the pressure will increase that's why you fit a PRV in case the thermostat fails and the pressure gets too great.

Thanks Battle I thought as much but didn’t want to give her duff information! apparently, & I haven’t seen it, the prv is dripping. It’s a problem as she lives alone. I could do without it really. I’ve told her to turn the heating & water on & report back.

Regardless, chances are she’s got a blocked/faulty inlet group on the UV cylinder. There could well be shit in the Pressure Reducing valve or it’s simply fucked!!
I’d recommend at replacement Group👍

Rocky don't be shocked she's back on the phone once she's demands plenty hot water.
Its like Dick said once turned off muck is an issue with the inlet group but I have had customers not open the isolator fully so expect another call.

Of course UV cylinders should be serviced annually. Megaflow units etc are likely to need the bubble reestablished👍

Should unvented cylinders last longer than 10 yrs? Have a mate who had to get boiler and cylinder replaced recently after 10 years, doesn't even have hard water. Don't know if he had the cylinder serviced regularly. Cheers!

A manufacturers Warranty is only valid if the service history is marked up on the UVC book & the Benchmark is completed, same as a boiler. N.B. Any DIYDafties!!
To fit, service or repair an UVC you need G3 qualifications.
