I’m 51 at the end of the month. Closer to death than birth!
A serious question, about knees.
I put in a towel rad yesterday to the house I’m moving into in 4/5 weeks.
In my knees for hours, the pain, even with a mat is unbelievable.
I could hardly walk. I was broken.
The free screwfix mat that had lasted very well & is still in excellent condition doesn’t really help me much anymore.
How are your knees?
Cheers all

Knees and Backs are the plumbers foil rocky and they push more plumbers into early retirement than anything else. In my early 20's I was already starting to get knee pain and started to uncomfortably squat down rather than kneel and soon got used to it. These days I tend to fully lay down instead of squating or kneeling down. I wouldn't still kneel down today to do a job but I can still do it if I really had to. To sum it up I've avoided kneeling since my early twenties and as a result my knees aren't too bad for my age (i think) - it's getting back up off the floor that's now becoming a problem .

Double knee pads in your Elephants ears work trousers. They curve to the shape of your knees. Walnuts or high Omega 3 in your diet.
When you get in at night, before you take your heavy boots off, sit up on a high stool & swing your legs. That’s the best advice I got from a Doctor👍👍👍
I’m 63 & still working on sites, some days it can be a killer on your knees & I know it’s not easy, but try to keep off them as much as possible. I’m lucky I guess, I drove a desk for about 30 years, stressful, but good for the body!!

I can only echo what others have said, On a bad day my knee's swell to twice their normal size and for years I took pain killers, diclophenic , they are super good but are dangerous, they can give you stomach problems, So after a while the Doc stopped giving them to me and life becomes hard again, Bikeing has helped me because, I can move the knees and all my weight is off them, I could't do a full days work now, as Tappy says, getting up and down is hard and stairs are a killer, Going upstairs is bearable but coming down is impossible, I turn round and come down stairs backwards,
