My next door was empty after the old lady died who lived there, they put the house up for sale but, no one wanted to live next door to me so, the people selling it did some jobs to make it more presentable, This was about 12 months ago, One job was fitting a new boiler, they had a combi fitted in the attic, Eventually the house sold to a nice couple and today the boiler stopped working so they asked me to have a look, I suspected straight away a frozed condensate because, Its cold and as a plumber I noticed when they did it, they poked a 3/4 overflow out of the soffit into the gutter, So when I went into their attic today, I was right, The installation is a right fuck up as well, a glowworm 24 with no screws holding the front panel in, the blow off just pointing at the ceiling , plastic pipes from boiler running along the the roof trusts, no insulation , elactrical box hanging mid air ( BB style ) I explained all the defects to the nice couple and they have no paperwork for the boiler nor the installers contacts, I got the boiler up and running by connecting some overflow into a bucket for now, Gassafe is not working if this sort of work is being done

well done for getting it working again i bet there your new best Neighbors. and the thing with gas safe you have to grass people up for the shit workmanship for gas safe to work properly and people don't report stuff we just condemned and make it safe and quote to redo the professional way.
one time a builder was working with us on a house that we had to system change to a unvented in the loft. a couple of weeks later this builder rings us and ask us to go and have a look at his boiler because is landlord had a cowboy in and fit his new boiler and builder was not happy how they left it wanted us to check it was safe.
should of seen it haven't seen anything like that he lost the flue analyzing caps on the flue and just banged some carry bags in the testing holes to block them up whole thing was done in plastic even up to the boiler. where he system changed in the airing cupboard was push fit through the floor and back in the floor again could of tripped over it. absolutely shocking. we just capped the gas meter and told him its not safe and banged a quote in to do it correctly but didn't think is landlord was happy with the price never mind least we left it safe for him.

That's bad for the people who bought the house, Tom. Going to cost them to sort that lot out. If I were them I would be asking some searching questions with their solicitor who did the conveyancing. They should have asked to see the install paperwork - Benchmark and install notification/compliance with building control/council. Especially on such a recent installation. Sounds like solicitor didn't do their job right and may have some comeback. If no paperwork is available I believe the buyer or seller should have bought some indemnity insurance to cover future problems. Solicitor should have told buyers about this.
When I sold a house recently, the buyer's solicitor was very careful to ask questions about the boiler/ch. They asked to see the compliance paperwork, service history, etc even though it was a 10 year old Wooshitter Botch.

Here there’s 10 days (could be more) to ensure the central heating works correctly if you buy a new home.

Then, the buyers could’ve asked the sellers for warranties, certificates etc. My house sale buyers solicitors wanted everything, fensa certs, boiler benchmark, electrical certs for the upgrades. Luckily I kept everything

Yes very nice of you Tom - they're lucky to live next door.
Is it possible they actually put that in themselves? If someone has charged money for that they need to be punished.
It really annoys me that even if I do the best I can on _my own_ boiler install it will cause me paperwork problems down the line and yet these cowboys putting in fked up installs get their cash and go. In other words GasSafe are punishing the DIYer who wants to do the right thing more than they punish cowboys making money from vulnerable people.
Incidentally, if a boiler is installed well but doesn't have the Gassafe tax applied, does it get capped or ripped off the wall?
By the way, I'm not saying I'm capable of doing it. I am saying I could do a lot better job than what I've read about above and for anything I didn't fully undersdtand I'd go for advice and read the manual so I know it backwards so I don't do the wrong thing.

No dafty he did't do it himself, he's a IT man, I've put him on the right track to seek recompense for the bad workmanship and, If for any reason he can't go down that road, I'l probably sort it for him when the weather is better, They are a nice couple and are perfect neighbours so, I don't mind helping them out because, When I have problems with my puter , he's always happy to help me,

Maybe it was BB? Doing boiler installs as a sideline until his medical equipment starts being snapped up by the NHS.
