The ridge of the roof is cement fixec ridge tiles and they need replacing, The roof is corrugated asbestos, So it will be difficult to fix without damaging, I don't want to break them up because getting rid will cause much grieve So, I've bought metal sheets to cover the asbestos and I'm strengthening the existing rotted concreted beams holding up the roof, I thought its a good idea for a project video, So here we go,

Good luck with roofing the Brew Cabin Tom!
As with all jobs, a job list is a must.
1. Protect the beer! 2. Protect the beer! 3-19 As above! 20. Have a beer to relax after all the hard work.
21. Have a beer and make a job list. 22-26. It's a long list.
27. Clear job list site, and have a beer. 28. Order materials, have a beer to get over the cost. 29. Prepare risk assesment. 14 beers. 30. Reward yourself for getting parts delivered and not driving. 3 beers.
31. Drop the driver a drink (real money, 5 beers worth), for lugging it over the assault course (access). 32. Have a beer to mourn the loss of the aforementioned 5. 33. Too dangerous on a roof, as alcohol has been consumed. Drink beer whilst watching son do it. 34. Great job done, have a few beers to celerbrate.
35. Snag list. Fuck run out of beer. Get son to bring more. Have a short whilst waiting.

Had some help a while back with my gorilla brother in law. He was painting around the facias. We came across some sheet material that I'm pretty sure is asbestos. "AZBEZT" he shouted before proceeding to sand it down prior to painting....
To be honest (and I might be totally wrong so do be careful with it) I've always thought the problem with asbestos is really a problem that affects those that used to work with it day in day out for years. I'm not bothered about a one off. Isn't it like comparing a 40 a day smoker whose had 300,000 smokes in his life with you or I having a smoke once a year at Christmas ?

there is some truth in that Dafty, during the early years of my working life, asbestos soil pipes, gutters and downpipes were common, we liked them because of the ease of sawing and drilling, people panick at the very sight of it now,

Karl, don't worry the safety of the beer is paramount but, those shorts dispensers only have cold tea and water in them, I love beer but spirits are not for me, Too many bad memories of waking up with a hangover next to some fat slag who could't cook, going home ill tired hungry with empty pockets and a green discharge from the japs eye,

It's not the really dangerous asbestos tom, however, it finally did get banned in the UK in 1985.
Back in the 70's I can remember my boss cutting the asbestos flue pipe with a circular saw (what a ruddy mess for me to clean up that was)!
NB. Back in the 40's there was a product on the market called "asbestos snow" (which was of the most deadly type) that you put on your Christmas decorations to make it look like it'd snowed.
The snow scene in "The Wizard Of Oz" film was the same stuff!

In some old, poorly ventilated Plant Room, beavering away on 12 hour shifts, making a fortune, well, so we thought!! Who knows the untold damage it did!!! But we enjoyed our weekends, blowing all the money on booze, fags & willing young birds💋💋💋

Sorry to hear that Tom, but a nice refurb project and hopefully not too high up when you're doing repairs. Look forward to seeing the progress. 👍
