After years of faithful service our White Knight Gas Tumble Drier died....RIP!! I’d nursed it along & really only ever serviced it, changed a drive belt, & replaced the motor capacitor. But it needed Bearings & a Drum, so really uneconomic to repair. Also, they don’t manufacture them anymore😔
So, after some research, I bought a Heat Pump Drier. I’d read of poor results with them, clothes not drying properly etc etc. Did more research & found out how they actually work; they operate at a low temperature, as the HP can only heat to about 40degrees. But the heat builds up in the room as it circulated, there’s no external vent.
Our wee utility room in Puller Towers is ideal, the boiler is in there & the ambient temperature never drops below 15degrees👍
It’ll never be as cheap to run as the White Knight Gas Drier, but it costs about £1 a load to dry.
Sorry it’s long winded, but I hope it helps someone.
