Hello Can anyone tell me how to fit this chimney for the extractor fan please? Also, does the part with the vents go at the bottom or the top? I’ve got no instructions & am struggling. Cheers all

do you know which way the joists run in the ceiling ? the reason i ask is because if they run across the kitchen left to right, can run the duct inside the ceiling to the outside wall, if they run the other way, you will have to run the duct on top of the units to the outside, which is easier but, it will show,

No ductwork needed here Tom.

you will find that is crap rocky, they don't work well I had to put the pipe across the top of the cabinets - it looks fine IMO. But I went for 5inch as per building regs as that is better than what was there before so is allowed. But ideally, the regs want you to fit a 6inch. No way did I want to drill a 6 inch hole in the wall for a bloody extractor !? TO be honest, part of me agrees with Rocky. You need an extractor to complete the "look" of the kitchen. The wife (and I) never really found extractors much use. I'm sure half the steam and smoke misses the extractor however powerful it is and they make a lot of noise when working full pelt. So if they don't work well anyway and require a shed load of work, why not fit a dummy like Rocky has done?

Charcoal filters it is!

I only have a piss poor 4"one at home but has both a pre-filter and a charcoal canister, more a grease trap than a filter! Mind the last one I fitted was 6" round to 6" flat and sat across the top of the last two units in a void space produced in the design for it, it was the business and had stainless washable quick release filters and worked fantastically well. luxairhoods.com/150mm-Round-To-Flat-Horizontal-ducting-Connector
